When the recession took effect Steve found himself being made redundant with no jobs available in my industry and had to build a new career for himself.
“It took me a little while to decide as for me it was a big decision where to invest my time and money. There was no pressure and all of the staff were helpful, answering all of my questions. I was also able to split the course into two sections to allow me to fit the training around other commitments
I initially did a Wall and Floor Tiling course. I found the whole experience enjoyable and rewarding. It was challenging at times, learning new skills, but the training staff were constantly on hand to assist and their training techniques made everything seem easier!
Most of the time was spent doing practical tasks, which suited me perfectly. I was able to practice the skills as often as needed and basically learn from any mistakes made. I have to admit there was a lot more to learn than I had expected. But there was plenty time to go over tasks and practice until perfect!
I also received invaluable training on finding employment or starting a business. I knew I wanted to work for myself. I was given training on how to set up and run a business.
Whilst the training was excellent, I personally have found the after care support the most valuable part of my course. I initially used the help line for advice on pricing work or what materials to use. There was always someone on the line to help.”
Steve also completed his SVQ Level 2 with Trades Training and has recently done Plumbing which has allowed him to undertake some bathroom fitting work.
